Alpine plants provide great textures

Alpines are great for rockeries, shallow borders, between and at the sides of paviors and paths.

As their root systems are small they can be planted in confined spaces. Species such as Aubretia and Saxifraga spread well and give great bursts of colour throughout Spring and early Summer.

Species such as sedums and other succulents give great form. Heathers love acidic soil (ericaceous compost for tubs and planters).  They thrive in this soil and look fantastic in rockeries and textured planters. Some varieties offer great depth of colour and texture with their deep reddish browns and golds.

At Gemmell's we stock a great range of Alpines, we change varieties regularly so there is always something new for the regular visitor.
